Extreme Makeover: Therapy Closet Edition

As much as I hate to admit it, I’m not always as tidy as I’d like to be. My therapy closets at places of employment have traditionally been the best example of this. A bit of disorganized chaos. You know how that goes - the type of closet where a book or a wind-up toy may or may not fall out as you open it. We can call it a closet that keeps you on your toes.

I, like many other people, became addicted to the Home Edit on Netflix this summer. We recently moved and I was excited to dedicate our spare closet to my therapy materials. In our old apartment, my therapy material storage was behind a chair in our bedroom. Can anyone else in Manhattan relate? An actual space for materials coupled with time at home meant a closet organization project.

After a few more visits to the Container Store than I’d care to admit, I’m very pleased with the finished product. What’s even better is that this closet has remained organized since I finished it a few weeks ago.

Whether you’re a parent hoping to organize your child’s toy closet or a therapist experiencing a similar therapy closet dilemma, I hope this post inspires you to get organized! Finding toys and therapy materials has never been easier.

Cart

3-Tier Rolling Cart with Wheels: This cart has been a lifesaver! I’ve been using the top two shelves for my books and the bottom shelf for office supplies (e.g., pencils, markers, scissors, etc.). The wheels make it easy to pull out the entire cart when I need to take a book out before or after a therapy session. While I claim no credit for assembling this cart, my husband reported it to be straightforward.
